Dr. Jen earned her doctoral degree in Special Education with a focus on Early Childhood Studies from the University of Florida. Before her doctoral studies, she served as a special education teacher in Albuquerque, NM. Her teaching experience spans prekindergarten through post-secondary education, and she has extensive expertise in supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, behavior disorders, and other developmental delays/disorders.

In addition to her teaching role, Dr. Jen supported her students’ parents in implementing behavior and communication strategies at home and in the community, ensuring consistent service and optimizing child outcomes. While she found fulfillment in her classroom and school-level impact, Dr. Jen aimed to broaden her influence on education policy, practice, and research. Motivated by this aspiration, she pursued a doctoral degree to deepen her knowledge and experience.

Dr. Jen was chosen to participate in a grant called Preparing Leaders in Early Childhood Studies and Implementation Science (PLECSIS), hosted by the Anita Zucker Center for Excellence in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Florida. This grant aimed to equip doctoral scholars with specialized knowledge in special education, early childhood studies, research and evaluation methods, and implementation science.

Through her participation in this grant, Dr. Jen served as a professional development workshop facilitator, coach, and research assistant. Her role focused on projects aimed at assisting adults—such as early childhood teachers, early intervention providers, parents, and caregivers—in implementing evidence-based practices with young children, aged birth to 5 years, with and without disabilities. These experiences equipped her with the skills to deliver high-quality professional development and critically analyze research, data, and strategies. Following her doctoral program, Dr. Jen founded the Early Childhood Group to support individuals caring for young children.

Dr. Jen is dedicated to ensuring that parents, caregivers, and educators have access to the latest evidence-based strategies for supporting child development. Despite existing research, valuable information is not always accessible to those who can benefit most. Dr. Jen's team offers support grounded in the latest research findings, aimed at helping your child achieve their maximum potential.
